trotting racehorses on road

2016/7/15 11:21:48

Question
hello sir, would you make your racehorses trot on tarmac road for a mile to make their joints fit?

Answer
Not my choice in training methods. I would rather train on a sand or grass surface. The best thing for joints is slow progression to speed. A 2 min pace (30 mph) is where the joints and cannon bone will take the necessary stress needed for proper development  needed for racing.
