racehorse exercising schedule

2016/7/15 11:22:46

Question
hello sir. may i know how would you set up a schedule for exercising a racehorse early in the morning? i mean, how would you start to train a newly arrived racehorse to your stable irrespective of age, gender, body weight and height?

Answer
A new arrival would be sent to the track and jogged a few laps to get the feel of the new rider and environment. I would first take notice of how a new arrival finishes up his grain. If he takes to the new home OK, then I would begin normal galloping and workouts based on his current conditioning. When in doubt always do less and save the horse for another day. If you move too fast, too early, then you may not have a horse left to train.
