When to our two year old filly again?

2016/7/15 11:25:42

Question
I am a 5% owner in a partnership of 14.  We have a 2 yr old filly who won her maiden race $25K, then "showed" in her second race a $50K.  Had a small chip removed late August and has rocvered and set for a breezing very soon. She's bred for distance (Jump Start).  The only Stakes races left in 2009 are at Hollywood Park (CA) that I saw.  How do you set a tentative scehdule going foward without getting the trainer all upset?  The owners me included just want to see a tenative plan set up.  How far in advance could/should you plan with your trainer?  She will turn 3 in 2010.  We would just like to get some ideas.  Last question is what if your trainer does not have a barn at a certain track (like Hollywood Park)  What do you do?

Answer
hi-- WELL I AM GLAD TO  SEE THAT YOU HAD THE HORSE IN MIND WHEN YOU ALL DECIDED TO TO THE BEST THING FOR THE HORSE AND DO THE CHIP OPERATION AND GIVE THE HORSE THE PROPER HEALING TIME BEFORE YOU  DECIDED TO PUT HER BACK IN TRAINING. YOUR TRAINER SHOULD HAVE A PLAN FOR THE FILLIE AND HAVE A IDEA ABOUT WHEN TO RACE HER AGAIN. YOUR TRAINER SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT MAKES THE DECISIONS WHEN IT COMES TO WHERE AND WHEN TO RACE THE FILLIE. I KNOW WHEN YOU HAVE PARTNERS IN THE OWNERSHIP, THERE MIGHT BE SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT TO DO WITH THE HORSE, BUT WHEN YOU HIRE A TRAINER YOU SHOULD HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN HIS OR HERS DECISIONS CONCERNING THE YOUR HORSE'S RACING.YOU SHOULD ALWAYS KEEP IN TOUCH WITH  YOUR TRAINER AND HE OR SHE SHOULD KEEP YOU INFORMED ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT IS GOING ON AND WHAT RACES HE OR SHE HAS PLANS FOR IN THE FUTURE. WELL A LOT OF TRAINERS COULD ALWAYS SEND YOUR FILLIE TO ANOTHER TRAINER AT THAT CA TRACK THAT HE HAS WORKED WITH BEFORE IN ORDER TO GET A RACE AT THAT TRACK. OR HE COULD TAKE THE HORSE OUT THERE HIMSELF FOR YOU. I WISH YOU GREAT LUCK IN YOUR FUTURE RACING WITH THIS FILLIE . THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUESTION. I HOPE I HAVE HELPED YOU. THANKS ED HESS
