rubber paddings and leather paddings

Question
hello sir. when should a trainer use "RUBBER PADDED" and "LEATHER PADDED" shoes on racehorses?

Answer
hi  well leather has been used as a pad for many years now. it is actually up to the individual trainer experience what he decides to do on that question.  i always use to use leather , but it use to compress too fast and it wouldn't last that long, but the rubber seemed to last longer and do a better job.  thanks ED HESS
