grass is grown on the racetrack

Question
hello sir, what breed of grass is grown on the racetrack?

Answer
Hi Rohit,
Generally the grasses grown are narrow leaf hard wearing types like rye grass. Broad leaf grasses like clover tend to hold water and become very slippery when wet. It also depens a bit on the soil type. Sandy soils like brisbanes Eagle farm have a type of Kouia Grass which has a strong root mass that binds the sand. There is a huge amount of effort put in to present the track at its best every race day. For obvious reasons the better the track the more consistent the form of the horses.
Cheers,
Don
