no shoe for hind legs

2016/7/15 11:23:54

Question
hello sir, may i know why few trainers dont shoe the hind legs whereas the fore legs are shod

Answer
hi-- i always would shoe the horse all around for safety and protection. some trainers do not shoe the horse behind when in light training, but when it comes time to race they usually always put shoes on a four feet. a horse with no shoes behind may do a lot of slipping and sliding when running at full speed. some horse will hit themselves with shoes on , so i think trainers do not shoe them in behind to keep them from hitting. thanks Ed Hess
