mixed hay good for racing thoroughbreds

Question
hello sir, is mixed hay good for racing thoroughbred horses? why dont u feed mixed hay since it contains all types of hays?

Answer
hi -- again the amount of protein you have to watch. mixed hay is ok to feed if there is not too much alfalfa, clover in it. i am a fan of timothy hay as it is a very good quality hay to feed. over the years you will see the difference in the horses who are fed clover hay ,and alfalfa hay ,and timothy hay.there are lots of bleeders on the race tracks now a days and i think that is caused by too much protein in the horses diet. thanks ED HESS
