Question
hello, why more protein is bad for horses, especially racing thoroughbreds?

Answer
hi -- too much protein is bad for the horse and will cause many problems with the horse. some times it makes the horse retain lots of fluid , such as legs filling up and can cause the horse to bleed during the race. . i would think that around 12% is plenty of protein for the horse in their diet. lots of addatives and supplements are too high in protein , therefore it builds up in their systems and you start to see problems with the horse. thanks ED HESS
