4 year old Quarter Horse- Open Knees

2016/7/15 11:24:54

Question
I recently bought a 4 yr old quarter horse that was only raced six times. He was ranch broke when I bought him. He is short coupled but tall.  both his front knees are not closed. I want to train him to barrel race. Is this a problem? Should his knees still be opened at that age?

Answer
I have never had a horse, who had knees open at age 4. I would check with your vet if this is a concern for you. I can't give you good advice since I do not know the whole story. Sorry I can't be more help. Please consult your vet for the best answer.
