Coming from behind on dirt

Question
Hi...Would like first of all to thank for your incredible job!!!

I've just started getting interested on dirt racing. While viewing videos it seems that it's much more difficult to come from behind than win from the lead. Why is it so? And do you have stats about horses winning coming from behind on dirt?

Thanks

Answer
thank you very much for your comments, i appreciate it very much. well every horse is different and i think it all depends on the horse. some horses get free on the front end and run very Well and other horses gave no speed and have to make it up at the end of the race. it also depends on the race track and how slow or fast the surface is on that particular day. if you remember silky Sullivan and how that horse would be so far back and still win the race, now he was a horse i enjoyed watching race, he always gave you a thrill every time he ran. other horses are strictly front running speed, the only way they will win is on the lead and not contested. i do not have any stats on horses winning for behind. hope this helps you. thank you much for your interest in this site. thanks ED HESS
