five cousins

Question
QUESTION: I have a retired race horse, Five Cousins, I have his papers and I'm trying to find our some of his history.
where can I look for information. He was born in KY and raced in Penn and CT mainly I want people to know he has a good home, he's making a wonderful trail horse, he has a flapper, which prevents him from running more that 1/4 mile. What is a flapper?

ANSWER: Hi Alicia,
I am sure if you contact the Kentucky Breeders Association they will be able to direct you to a web site where you will find the breeding records and probably a racing record.
I do not know what organisation keeps these records but Im sure someone does.
Check for likely prospects on WWW.jockeysite.com and also check www.arion.co.nz this latter site is our local NZ reference point. Check Cate Moss, she is my mare.
Hope this helps,
Don

QUESTION: What is the flapper in his throat, I was told he has had a surgery on it I already have his race records from the jockey club and his pedigree. I want to know how to find out about the truck and trailer accident he was in.
Thank you
Alicia

Answer
Sorry Alicia,
As I live in New Zealand I have no way of helping you with an accident report. Find the stable he was in at the time and ask them, then check that information with the highway police, they will have donea report.
I am not familiar with the term flapper, maybe a a fold of throat lining that becomes swollen?
Hope this helps,
Don
