Training the Profession

Question
Dear Mr. Hess,

I am a teenager currently raising racing thoroughbreds. I love it, these horse are my definite passion. Its coming down to the time for me to choose a profession. I would like to be a trainer, but I just wanted your opinion on the business. Do yo think this is a good one to enter? How do you enjoy your job? I would think of it as a labor of love, but I know it must be stressful at times. Please give me your opinion possibly pros and cons of the profession.

 Thanks,
   Micah Rasberry

Answer
HI   micah--- well, you already sound very positive in becoming a professional horse trainer to me. it is a labor of love as you will have many great times and many more real bad times in this business. i have trained for over 30 years and i would not change a single thing that i have done either. this buisness is a great one for the guy who has his heart in horses, all in all i think it is the best buisness to be in, but that is my opinion. let your heart and instinct guide you and you are going to do great. hope this helps you  good luck see ya ED HESS
