Question
Hi John.  I asked you about knee trouble I had been having a few weeks ago.  I was having some pain under my knee caps when walking up and down stairs, hearing and feeling crepitations when squatting or bending my knees. You told me it was chondromalacia.  I haven't ran at all for the past month and have been swimming, power walking, and doing thigh strengthening exercises.  (I know you said not to swim, but even the bicycle and eliptical machines were bothersome to my knees). Now I don't feel any pain when going up or down stairs and the grating sounds and sensations in my knees have gone down a lot, not completely.  I'm just wondering if it's safe for me to resume running again? How can I go about it safely?  Or if not, when can I start running again?

Answer
Hi Gina
You can give it a try and see what happens.Just start easy Gina. You will know if it is ok quite quickly.I still say the bike is the best tool.If the bike is bothering you then you still have tracking problems.Be patient.Let me know what happens Gina.

All the best

John
