Running, weightlifting and age

Question
I am 52 years old. I have run 3 marathons although it has been about 6 years since my last one.  Although my PR in the marathon is only around 3:50, I have run a 1:36 half marathon.  I currently run 24-30 miles a week.  In addition to running, I recently attained my goal of bench pressing 315 lbs.  My dream is to run a sub 3 hour marathon, while retaining my 315 lb. bench press.  Is this goal at all possible at my age or are my sights set far too high?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Kim
Your 136 half does tell a nice story and does indicate it would be in your grasp if you could handle and wanted to explore the upper limits of a program with consistent commitment to the end result. The only way you could really get a feel for sub 3hr is to block out some time and move forward with a plan.As far as retaining your 315 bench, quite unlikley Kim.

All the very best

John
