5K races

Question
I run in several local 5K races and my time is pretty consistant.  I don't know how to train to improve my time.  I average about 25 or 26 minute finish time.  I jog about 2 or 3 times a week at about 3 or 4 miles.  I was just wondering if you could give me some tips on increasing my time.  Thanks!

Answer
Rachel,

When you are training 2 or 3 times a week, there is a lot of room for improvement. You should first start running atleast 5 days a week, preferably 7 days. This will be an adjustment at first so don't try to run hard. Run for time, maybe 30-40 minutes per day. Once you get this down and feel good, we can start adding some quality workouts.
