Getting Started with Running in Your 40s: A Beginner's Guide
Question
I'm a moderately fit 44 year old, but suddenly feel the urge to go running. The only time I've tried it before, I ended up with swollen ankles, which I think was due to having the wrong shoes. How should I go about staring out? Many thanks for your time, Maggie
Answer
Hi Maggie,
Your previous running problem could have been to starting out with too much, too soon, as well. I would advise a walking/jogging program. Visit http://runnersworld.com and check out their beginner programs for one that will suit you the best, they are a great resource to use for running questions & issues.
I hope this helps you well,
