I am looking for a rock climbing...

Question
I am looking for a rock climbing wall expert to testify on a facilities program, procedures and if it met and exceeded the standard of care in the industry.  Is this anything you have done?

Answer
Dear Ms. Scarbrough--I have served as an expert for one case in Minnesota. The lawyer had hired a PhD sports- accident-expert who knew nothing about climbing. He rejected the PhD work and used mine---I presume the case settled.

As to standards, rock gyms are not regulated and there is no universal standard. My service involves accident analaysis to determine the root cause. I use the manufacturer's instructions to determine if the user violated the standard. I also apply conventional climbing techniques to contrast the scenario.

I have an offer to work a case in Houston, so I hope this is not the same one ( I will work through an expert testimony agency for that one.)

My fee is $150/hour, retainer required. I cannot provide an opinion without analyzing the accident and interviewing the injured party. I had one attorney persitently ask for an opinion without paying me. I am the only registered climbing accident investigator in the country (to my knowledge), and as much as I sympathized with injured people, I do not work for free.

To learn more about me and climbing accidents, please see
please see, my book, "Ultrasafe, A Guide to Safer Rock Climbing," available at Amazon.com. Amazon has many excerpts from the book that you can read for free.

Good Luck
