2k erg time

2016/7/22 9:47:22

Question
Hey, i'm 15, 5'8, 140lbs and have been rowing for 2 years, and have also won a junior boys state championship. I did a 2k erg a week or so ago and got 7:28. First of all, what kind of erg times would allow me to get a college scholarship for rowing, and second of all, how can i get my time down to breaking 7 minutes? cheers.

Answer
Hi Zack: Your erg score is in the middle of the pack for lightweights your age.  Maybe gaining 10 pounds of muscle would help lower your time.

I think the fact that you are such an accomplished competitor on the water means more than a good erg score.  The most important requirement for a scholarship are your grades.

Good Luck/AP
