Question
I am currently a junior oarsman and have been rowing for 3 years. I am 6'1 and 145lbs. My PR 2k this year is a 6:58. What 2k time do you have to pull in order to be noticed for college rowing?

Answer
Hi James: based on times posted on the Concept II Database, your time puts you in the Top-30% which is quite good.

Getting recruited by a college coach usually takes more than just erg times.  Your on-water experience -- races competed in, major regattas medalled in, and your ability to row from different sides and seat positions (e.g., strokeman), play a big part in recruitment.  But I guess if you can pull a 6:45 or better, you might get a coach's attention.

Good Luck/AP
