Question
I am a junior in high school i weigh 178 5/11. i just
finished my first 2k test and i got 7:30. Is this a good
time based on my weight and time. And we did a power/watts
for 15 min and i got 192.98 watts, is this good?

Answer
Hi Diego: It's a good time for your first 2000 piece.  But there is room for improvement.  Out of 348 people your height and weight in the Concept II database, your time would put you in 263rd place.  In other words, 3 of every 4 people listed has a better time than you.  Again, this was your first piece and some of the people here have rowed for years.  So stick with the sport, and your time is sure to go way down.

As for your other question,  To convert your 500m split time to watts either use the following equation:
Power (Watts) = 2.8/(pace raised to the third power)

where pace is given as: Pace = time (seconds)/ distance (metres)

To make it easy for you, your output equates to an average time of 2:02/500 meters.  Again, good for a beginner, but has room for improvement.
