Question
My father passed away about 2 weeks ago, and handed me down his guns, one that i got from him was given to him by his father. It is a Model 99 .300 Savage, the number in front of the trigger guard is 519261. Was wondering to find the year this gun was made and any other history about it. Thanks

Steve Anderson

Answer
Hi Steve,
Yours was made in 1949
There is a website just on the model 99.
http://www.savage99.com
Basically it was the only lever action that did not have a magazine tube.
Flat bullets were not required.
It used a rotary Magazine it stacked box.
There were many model variations.
So can't which one you have by date only.
Values can range from $100 to $4000 depending on model and condition.
