Belgium Browning 12 Gauge

2016/7/22 9:18:17

Question
I recently recieved a Belgium made Browning Auto 12 gauge with some detailed engraving and the words "Browning Trademark"  engraved on the receiver.  I am having a hard time finding any info on this gun.  Approximate year, model, history, value etc.  Serial number is 201431.  Any info would be helpful.

Answer
Rebecca,

Your Auto-5 should have the safety in front of the trigger. If it does, according to your serial number it was made in early 1938. According to your description it is a grade I, but without pictures it is hard to say for sure. A great resource to consider is the Browning Auto-5 Book by Anthony Vanderlinden and H.M. Shirley. It is a wealth of information and history in regards to the A-5. Hope this helps.

Jim
