bullet weight conversion

2016/7/22 9:21:02

Question
I understand bullet and powder weights are measured in grains. How do you convert grains to grams or ounces?
For example, how many 180 gr bullets can be cast from 1 lb
of lead? Thanks for your time.

Answer
Chuck,

A grain is the unit of weight used to measure powder and bullets. 1 grain = 1/7000 of a av.pound - or..... 1oz.av.=437.5 grain.

A gram is a metric unit of weight equal to about 1/28th. of an oz.

As for the 180 grain / 1 av.lb. lead...... now that you have the numbers, I'll let you play with the math.

Thanks for writing.
