hunting permit with a felony conviction

Question
I was convicted of  felony assault back in 1995, for beating up a man who threatened to hurt my pregnant  wife while standing at  my front door. It has been 10 years and two children later and I have had no problems with the law  since.I am moving to colorado and plan on hunting but do not know if I can with a conviction on my record. Can you advise me on this  matter?

Answer
Since you have a felony conviction you can't legally have a gun. However, it maybe possible to get a pardon from the state that convicted you. I would enquire with a law who has expertise in firearms laws. Calling your local American BAR Association should get a referal to a specialist.
