Extra wide fitting

Question
Hi Lezly,

I moved to New York over a year ago, and would like to do more inline blading.  The problem I have is that my existing Salomon FSK's are just not wide enough and have been causing huge discomfort to my feet.  I have been going up sizes to gain the width, but have subsequently learnt, via foot pain and the Internet, that thats not a good idea.

My size is 7-7.5 and the width is EEE!!! I've searched the Internet and cannot find anyone manufacturing an inline skate to that size.  Plenty of EE, but no EEE widths.

My online requirements are that it fits and is an inline blade.  I'd be happy with a hockey skate or a street/recreational skate.

Anyway, if you have ANY advice to offer, I'd be grateful.  I don't want to give up inline skating :(

Thanks,

Nathan

Answer
Nathan,
You really have a problem! You are correct that going up in size is not the answer. Unfortunately I have only 1 solution that comes to me. It would be expensive but I don't know of any Inline skate co. that does custom fitting.
That being said, you can have a custom leather boot made by Riedell by sending a tracing of your foot through one of their distributers - if you are in NY I would be glad to do that for you - a Riedell Silver or Gold Star boot would have the proper stiffness for inline skating, & there are inline frames that are available which can be mounted on a leather boot (I have a Riedell custom Silver Star with a custom inline frame - it cost me about $500 but well worth it).
Of course another solution would be to switch to quads.
I will do some research & if you contact me in a few days at 212 777-3232 I will discuss any other idea I might come up with.
I'd hate to see you stop skating because you cannot find a skate to fit.
