three wheel inline skate

Question
QUESTION: Hi do you companys that still make three inline skates that are made for jamming.
Regards Roger

ANSWER: Hi Roger,
I'm sorry I can't help you with your question.  I'm not aware of an inline skate skate that was ever made specifically for jam skating.

If you want to jam skate I would suggest you switch to quads.  Inlines are very restrictive and would limit your jam moves because the boots are so stiff and so high.  Jam quads have a lower boot which give you more freedom in the ankle to do all the jam moves.

I'm not saying you can jam skate in inlines but you would probably get discouraged because they would limit your ability to do what you want.

Sorry I couldn't help more but I would recommend regular jam quads instead.

QUESTION: hi Pat.thanks and your right, I do jam on quads and find i do get discouraged using inline. A Lot of young skates don't respect the art unless it's done on inline's, when i do jam on inline's it's to much work to make it flow.
Look at young slalom skaters on youtube there moves look a lot jamming to me! Most look like there wearing hockey blades but it must be still hard to get on the front wheel.

Answer
Hi Roger,
Thank you for your scores and nomination, I appreciate it.

I think the difference between jam skating on inlines vs quads is simply a personal preference and a trend for what ever area or country you live in.

I'm guessing they use hockey inlines because of the way the boot is cut.  On most hockey skates the tongue and the back of the boot are high but they only lace up the to ankle which would definitely give you more ankle freedom than regular inlines.

Getting on the front wheel of the hockey blades isn't as hard as you think.....only because of the cut of the boot, like I mentioned above.  With regular inlines, it would be certain death.  lol

There is no right or wrong....it's just a personal preference.   I still feel the quads are more versatile for certain moves yet inlines take up much less floor coverage and which allows the slalom edges to hold tight.

Have fun......it's a great sport no matter what you're skating on.
