indoor rollerblading locations

Question
Hi -

When I lived in Savannah, GA, I rollerbladed outdoors year-round.  Since being back in Michigan, I have found it difficult to get back into rollerblading because of the weather.  I am looking into creating a business with indoor rollerblading included.  Are you familiar with any places across the US that may have indoor parks for rollerblading?  I am not looking to open the traditional rollerskating rinks or skateparks for skateboarding.

Thanks for you assistance.
Kristine

Answer
Hi Kristine,
I wish I could give you more information but I'm not aware of any indoor places that are specifically for rollerblades only.  I'm not saying that they don't exist it's just that I've never heard of any.   I would do some research with one of the search engines.....that could be helpful.

I would imagine if they exist, there's not many because being so specific would cause you to lose money.  Rollerblading is still popular but not as popular as it was a few years ago.

Something to think about if you don't want a regular roller rink is to make the building multi purpose.

If you just want a path or track for skating workouts perhaps you could have a track for rollerblading and either an inner or outer track for people who enjoy walking for exercise.

I do know there are many, many people looking for places to walk all year long.....not just winter.  Executives, senior citizens, at home mom's walking alone or walking with their kids in strollers etc, etc.  Even people looking for somewhere to walk their dogs when the weather is bad.

It's something to consider and would bring you more income to cover your expenses than limiting it to rollerbladers would.

I'm sorry I couldn't help you with a specific place but I hope these ideas have sparked your imagination enough to make your dream come true.

If I can be of any further help, please feel free to write again.

Good Luck.........I honestly think a multi purpose building would be the way to go, especially since it just might be one of a kind and it's something that many people have wished someone would create.

Pat
