replacement tie on boom head for old mistral board

2016/7/22 14:38:41

Question
Hi, I have an old mistral Maui board and the tie on boom head broke. Do you have a suggestion of what would be the best thing to do in replacing this par? Should I buy a replacement boom and if so what type?

Answer
Hey Rob,

Your best bet would be to buy a new boom. If that is not in the budget right now, then you can get a replacement head here; www.chinooksailing.com

Look under boom parts and you will probably need the classic. The angle may be just a bit different but take the tail off your boom, attach the arms to the new head and then put the tail back on.

If you buy new, the Competition boom is the norm for recreational sailors just needing a good sturdy boom. You may find other booms at a little better price but Chinook builds very high quality into their products for the price.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
