mast extensions

2016/7/22 14:41:17

Question
I'm borrowing an 18' extension from my friend and the base I have doesn't seem to fit.

Its a chinook base and a Fleetwood extension.

When I put the base into the extension the push pins don't reach all the way to the holes and the base is too wide for it to go any farther....

I need to purchase my own don't I?
I was thinking this Ezzy superlight aluminum tall extension for 24   or the chinook for 48..

what do u think?

Answer
Hey Colin,

This is a fairly common problem when you try using an older extension with a newer base. Many manufacturers did this on purpose so that you would have to buy their parts exclusively. Now it is much more common for different manufacturers to make their gear universal so that you can mix and match components.

Either of the extensions you mention should work for you. Just be sure to get the US type for your two pin type base.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
