Question
Hello,
I've been windsurfing for a few years now once and a while and I am looking for at least a new sail to fit my skill level and size. Our board and sail are awfully old and the sale it too big for me (I think-The mast is about 5 meters tall). I don't know if the new sails will fit my old board. I am 19 and weight about 150 lb. We would use it almost solely on our lake which is fairly smooth. I was wondering if it would be best to buy a new sail only or go with a whole new setup. I would also appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction for buying a cheep used one.
Thank you,
Matthew Asplund

Answer
You will not believe how great the new boards are to sail. I am recommending you buy a used board that is around 5 years old.  Board design has come quite far in the last 10 years.  By buying a used board you are getting the best of both worlds.  It won't cost as much and you will get the benefit of the newer board technology. Try to pick up a used sail also.  I buy all my equipment used and it works out really well.  Try windsurfingclassifieds.com or ebay for used boards.
