Windsurfer mast flexi joint

2016/7/22 14:42:09

Question
Hi. I have an old Mistral windsurfer. The flexible rubber joint at the base of the Mark II mast has perished and broken. Do you know whether it is possible to replace the joint or otherwise fix the mast?

Answer
Hey Brendan,

The Mistral universal joints are still around. The main part of fixing your issue would be the top section that the mast slides onto, or the mast extension. That part can be removed from the old universal (rubber part) and attached to the new one. It may be difficult to remove as sometimes someone has used locktite on the nut. Use a good socket and a strap wrench to get it loose. When you attach the new one, use Blue locktite. Blue allows removal, Red is almost permanant.

As for a new one, I have an almost new Mistral universal that I'd be willing to part with. If you can take a pic of your old part(s) along with the bottom of the mast/mast to universal connection, I can better determine what you need and whether my part will work for you. Email me direct at [email protected].

Hope I can help,
Windlover
