reddness and calf cramping

2016/7/21 18:02:23

Question
Okay, I read your answer about walking and leg cramping. So here is my question added to the question. My legs turn red in the calf area every day. I am 310 lbs 5'9. I am not diabetic, I do have high bp,(it's the diastolic # that is high)and I am active. I agree with the walking to fast part, but when I asked my doctor about the redness in my calfs she said she did not know. My circulation is fine. That is all she said. Thank you

Answer
I certainly do not have a clue what might be causing either the cramping or the redness. Your weight could be contributing to both problems in addition to the high blood pressure. Yours might be a case where losing some of the weight is necessary before engaging in a strong walking program. Excessive weight can cause serious wear and tear on hip, knee and ankle joints. You probably don't want to hear this advice, and I hope you can work your way through this obstacle to better health.
