Flag Etiquette: Rules for Displaying Multiple Flags (US Flag)

Rules for flying the American flag with another flag from two poles

* The American flag should always be flown at the peak of the staff, or highest point of the flagpole, and to the right of any other flags.

* The other flag should be flown below the American flag, on a separate pole of equal height.

* The American flag should be at least as large as the other flag.

* Both flags should be flown at half-staff on Memorial Day and on other days of national mourning.

* The American flag should be displayed from sunrise to sunset, and may be illuminated at night.

* The American flag should never be flown upside down, except as a signal of distress.

* The American flag should never be used for advertising purposes.
