25hp Everude 2 stroke - problem

2016/7/15 18:31:16

Question
Hi,

I have a 25hp everude engine. To start it I have to put the choke on and give it some throttle.  Even after its being running for a while, If I put it into idle/neutral it will cut out.  It got better when I adjusted the Rich/Lean to be more rich.  It will now idle but will cut out if I put it into neutral too fast.  Also, it only works if the choke is on.  If I have the boat moving with a good deal of throttle I can turn off the choke, the engine will still run but will labour quite a bit.  Any advicewould be appreciated.

Paul.

Answer
Hi Paul...Thanks for selecting the undersigned to respond to your question. Unfortunately, I'm not a mechanic.

Did you check and make sure air valve on the fuel tank is open? It's that silver wheel that's sometimes on top of the fuel cap. Also, check your fuel line for defects. Maybe the diaphram in the carb has deteriorated, or perhaps their is some form restriction in the fuel line. If all else fails, consult a qualified and reliable marine mechanic.
