Boat leaning to one side while throttling up?

2016/7/15 18:31:35

Question
Just bought a 1989 Ski Centurion truetracker II. When I throttle up, with the steering wheel straight, the boat leans to the driver side, and throws up a conciderable higher "roost" than the passenger side. Even with a passenger, it still leans to the driver's side.

Answer
Hi Sean...Thank you for selecting the undersigned to respond to your question.

Without actually seeing the boat, particularly while underway and out of the water, my comments are purely speculative.

My first thought is the propellers may not be matched. In other words, both props may be turning in the same direction rather than opposite to each other.

Secondly, is it possible the pitch and diameter of each prop is not the same?

Given the age, there's a possibility you may have water trapped in an unaccessible area of the bilge (below the floor or sole), which is weighting the boat on its right side.

Best you consult a qualified and reliable marine surveyor or mechanic to assist you to identify and resolve the problem.

Safe Boating
