fuel guage

2016/7/15 18:31:58

Question
Hi
Does any one know why a fuel gauge on a bayliner cuddy would'nt work? would this be a faulty guage or wiring? any tips on how to check this please.

Answer
Hi Stewart...Thank you for selecting the undersigned tor respond to your question.

Often, the problem emanates from the sending unit in the fuel tank, so check that out first, and make certain there's a reasonable current flowing to the gauge.

Next, check the connections on the back of the gauge, which can vibrate loose. If the needle or digital read-out doesn't move when you turn on the ignition, you might have a defective gauge.

Best you have a qualified and reliable marine mechanic check it for you. It may save time and money.
