lucerne and alfalfa

2016/7/15 11:23:43

Question
hello sir, what is the differnce between lucerne and alfalfa? why to feed lucerne?

Answer
HI I KNOW ALFALFA HAY IS VERY RICH ON PROTEIN. TOO MUCH PROTEIN IS BAD FOR A HORSE. THEY SHOULD HAVE ONE ABOUT 12% PROTEIN IN THEIR DIET. WE FEED TIMOTHY HAY BECAUSE IS IS A GOOD BASIC HAY FOR THE HORSE. CLOVER HAY IS TOO RICH FOR A HORSE AND GRASS HAY DOES NOT Have A LOT  OF NOURISHMENT. THANKS ED HESS
