Question
Hi, we have a 4 year old thoroughbred. When he is racing, he stops all the sudden, usually at the quarter pole. He had his palate checked, and he doesn't bleed. He also had a blood test done, it came back good. Do you have any idea why he could be doing this?
Thanks

Answer
hi it is either lameness or a wind problem. please have your vet give him a good old vet check. if he is stopping at the quarter pole, then he may have a problem when he changes his leads. if he is sore, he will stop when he goes on the lead that is bothering him. . knees, ankles, hocks, stifles, back problems may be there.  hope this helps out. thanks ED HESS
