Barbaro

Question
Do you think they tried too hard to keep her alive?

Should she just have been put down on the track?

Answer
Hi Mick:

I believe they did what was right for Barbaro.  According to the vets, he had a chance to live out his life with a modicum of grace and dignity.  Unfortunately, that did not happen.  As is the case with humans as well, complicated medical procedures come with no guarantees.  The horse was insured, and it may have been easy to just put him down soon after the Derby.  But they elected to try and save him and should be applauded for their efforts.
