Question
I have been running for about 7 weeks training for 10k on Labor Day. I am on a good training play for me and have felt good about my running. In the last week to 10 days, however, I have started getting more and more phlegm in my throat and having more difficulty coughing it up. Yesterday it was really bad and this morning I had to stop and throw up just after the mile mark. I don't know what the deal is.

Every morning I drink an 8oz glass of Spark and eat a Powerbar about 15 minutes before my run. The Spark (in powder formula) is about a year old and I'm getting to the bottom)

Any advice? I've got to figure this out.

Thanks for considering this question.

Answer
Hi Bill
As you start to get in better shape and start pushing yourself, your body starts clearing itself out. This is a good thing. You have to take a good look at your diet and eat good clean balanced foods.I really don't know anything about your present and past training or height weight age so i'm just working with what your explaining to me.There is many things that can effect an effort good and bad.I would strongly recomend you not drink the sparks or eat the power bar.Just stick to water. That could be some of the problem, but phlegm is just a diet issue. If you have other questions just get in touch.
