Groin pain

2016/7/22 10:12:05

Question
Let me start by stating that I use to run frequently, I am 47 years old and have run 12 marathons the last one 5 years ago, until I started experiencing severe pain into my runs, granted I had reduced my weekly mileage and have gained weight (15 to 20 lbs). So anyway the pain comes now within 20 to 30 mins. of running in the left groin area between my testicle and anus, I have had prostate tested and other tests to no avail. The pain is severe specifically when I step down on the left. Could it be the vas deferns?? I miss my running so much please help.

Answer
Hi Leo
I really don't think it is vas deferms.I really think it is a groin strain.Adductor, abductor,a little hamstring. Why because it comes on slowly.I suggest you get back to the basics and get into some streching, ice the area after workout, drop the weight, strenthen addductos abductors, addominals, back extentions, epson salt baths. There comes a time in every ones career especially closing in on big 50 to get back to the basics and build a new infrastructure to carry you well into your 70's with a 40 year old body. This is the way your body is talking to you.It is your job to listen to what it has to say and implement and carry out the neccessary things to rebuild.Hope this gives you a new focus and direction Leo.Any other questions just get in touch.

All the best

John
