Question
I am doing a project at my elementary school(ages 3-11)and I was concerned about some of the issues. A couple of things that I am concerned about are how high I can go (roughly)? and if my idea of having some overhang is safe?

Answer
Noah---I assume you are talking about gym climbing----if so, most walls are engineered and you need to refer to the manufacturer.  If you engineer it yourself, you probably are creating a liability for the school.

Best get with the district engineer, a manufacturer, and yes, your risk manager before doing this.

If you are a private school...work with the admin people.

If you are talking about belaying on natural rock, the hazards and liabilities are much greater, and cannot be treated in a short discussion.

Good Luck-----George
