College Recruitment and Off Season Weight

Question
Hi,

I'm going to be a junior this fall, and this past spring before Youth Nationals I pulled a 2k of 6:44.2, and I'm 153 pounds. However, I'm only 5'9, so I was wondering how much faster I would half to get recruited by one of the more competitve rowing schools (Cornell, Brown).

In addition, it's currently my off season, and I'm only erging once a week now (compared to doing a 10k and 4k every other day during season), and I was trying to gain muscle/weight all year. I ended the season at 153lbs, and my goal this summer was to maintain this weight or gain 3 pounds more muscle. However, I've been weight lifting consistently, running/biking/swimming and eating healthy, and I'm losing weight! Since Youth Nationals, it's been 3 weeks, and i've dropped down to a low 148lbs. What should I do??? THANKS!!!

Answer
Jeff,
I am not too good with mens college recruiting, so I can't help you there.
For the weight part, I would imagine you are losing muscle, because while all the things you do are good, erging is the best. I would try erging again. Try erging about 3 times a week, running/biking/swimming twice, and lifting weights about 3. Challenging as it may seem, this will really help
