Erg times

Question
I'm a sophomore girl, 5'11 and 141 lbs.  My current 2K time is 7:50, though it's early in the season.  I've attended a jr national team id camp, and want to know my chances at making some branch of the jr national team this summer.  Are my times good for my age/ weight?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Mary: Junior Selection camps are "invitation-only." To be eligible, you must have a 2K erg score of 7:20 or faster (Born 1993), 7:28 or faster (Born 1994), and 7:40 or faster (Born 1995 or younger).  You also need to have demonstrated the ability to compete at a high level on-water.

While your time is good (Top 25% for girls your age), you need to cut 10 seconds off your time by 1 May, which is the date they send out invitations.

Good Luck/AP
