Browning A-5 Shotgun

2016/7/22 9:18:09

Question
I have an old Browning A-5 which is ser #97391 I believe that puts it made in 1930.  This shotgun has no "US" markings, no Browning address on it.  Is this usual for this vintage shotgun?

Answer
Ben,

If you have a 12 guage auto 5, then you are right on the money for the date of manufacture. A sweet sixteen with that serial number range would be dated 1935-36. I suspect your shotgun has Fabrique Nationale Browning patent marked on it. I suggest you take a look at the Browning Auto 5 shotgun book. It is a very in depth book for the Auto 5. Hope this helps.

Jim
