Question
Kyle,
In your opinion which firearm would be the best concealed carry type, the Walther PPK/S, Walther PPK, or the Glock 26.

Thank you for your input.

Answer
Tom,

The dimensions of the PPK and PPK/S would make them great carry guns if not for the pipsqueak cartridges they fire, the .32 and .380. Even James Bond has recently traded his for the Walther P99 in 9mm Luger.

Most experts consider the 9mm Luger the bare minimum for personal protection. The .380 is a shortened, "diet" version of the 9mm and the .32 is smaller still.

The Glock 26 chambers the 9mm Luger and fits 10+1 rounds of them into a tidy little self-defense package. In a pinch, it can be fed by magazines from the compact and full-size 9mm Glocks, though they'll obviously extend well past the grip. The Glock is wider than either the PPK or PPK/S, but its plastic frame makes it relatively light. The sights on the Glock 26 are far superior to those found on the PPK and can be fitted with tritium inserts, making them visible in complete darkness. The Glock's lack of a manual safety makes it a good fighting pistol, though some practice is suggested to get used to carrying a cocked and loaded pistol with no safety.

In all, I'd definitely go with the Glock 26 over the PPK or PPK/S. You may even consider the Glock 27, which has the exact same external dimensions as the 26, but chambers the more potent .40 S&W cartridge.

Hopefully I've answered your questions. If you've a follow up, feel free to ask.

Kyle
