ski poles

Question
I am 130cm (52") to my arm pit is this the rule of thumb to measure to this point for poles.
thank you wayne

Answer
Dear Wayne --

Ski poles should generally be shorter than the rule you describe above.  I turn the ski pole upside down, hold it under the basket and put the handle on the floor.  If my arm makes a right angle at the elbow, when I hold the skipole this way, then the pole is about the right length.

Please let me know, if you have additional questions.  Have fun skiing!
