Sail to Board Size & Weight

Question
Hi,

I'm looking at a new sail size after attempting ride in stronger winds on a 5.5 Gasstra.  I have a 115L Mistral Syncro and a Carve 144L (which I'm moving away from).  At present I have a 6.5 Tushingham Storm and said 5.5 Gasstra.  The sail I'm looking at is a 4.5 Tushingham Storm.

Is this moving out of the sail range for the boards, as I'm 10.5 stone at 5'8?

I've windsurfed for 2 and a bit years now, so wanting move on a bit, and push myself

Hope you can advise!

Answer
Hey Martin,

You will be just out of the recommended sail range for your 115L Syncro. You could still use a 4.5 on that board but the board will seem out of control at times. Using a smaller fin may help some of that control. The best solution would be to go to a 90-100L board. But if your budget doesn't allow another board at this time, then a smaller fin will help you control the 115L with a 4.5.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
