minimum age to start windsurfing

Question
Hi Dean,
Last year we moved to Spain - Costa Daurada - Miami-Playa where I started working for BIC.
Yesterday I saw some flaglets about windsurfing boards our company sells and I started thinking about my son and how great it would be if he could do some windsurfing.
As for me, I tried a few times on a hired board when I was about 12 years old but never had the chance to go on with it.
Since we are living in a perfect country to do windsurfing, I can't stop thinking about starting with it again.
But, I also want my son to start learning it ... could you please tell me when he has the suitable age ?  He is now 6 years old and he can swim (for 1 year now).
Thanks for your reply.
Kind regards;
Inge

Answer
6 years is too early to learn because most of the equipment is still too big.  You should try to learn to windsurf first.  The new equipment is far easier to learn on now days. Find a place where you can get some lessons and once you learn you can teach your son.
