gear problm

hi ron i have a yhannma115 and it wont go in to ford or reves but u can hear a click when i put it gear but then it juts reves

Hi Padraic...thanks for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

The symptom you've described suggests one of two likely problems. First, the shifter is not working properly to engage the pinion gear and one or the other may require adjustment or repair. Secondly, there very well may be gear or driveshaft damage which has disabled engagement for momentum fwd. or in reverse. Best you consult a qualified and reliable marine mechanic.
